The Subtle Ones are not powerful in Columbia, or at least they would like you to believe that. Islam is not prevalent in The United States at this time, much less the Mid-West; still there are some practitioners at the university. For many years there has been at least one Ahl-i-Batin in the Red Campus chantry. The purpose of this agent was to keep an eye out for anything that may require more attention from the tradition. The most recent watcher, Anjim-ni-Terrani, has realized that there is something big here. The Red Campus seems to be a chantry of growing influence, and if it is going to become an important seat for the traditions then the Batini must be influential in its future. Experienced Batini may be coming to the city to assist Anjim, as directed by the Qutbs, or they may be a rare awakening in the area who is called to follow the Subtle Ones vision of unity.
